Commander One: File Manager App Reviews

Doesn’t seem to work

Either the free version is so crippled as to not really do anything or I’m an idiot and can’t figurevout how to perform a simple ftp transfer within my LAN. Either way it was a waste of time for this users.

Pay to play

This might be great, but you have to shell out $30 to do a simple FTP. That’s a lot to just transfer a file using an old protocol (which is free on many other apps).

will only ask you buy pro pack

you cannot transfer any files unless you purchase a pro pack for $29.99

Good one

Good commander especially that you may configure hot-keys.

Free version is pointless

You can not transfer unless you pay for full version.

Slow. Not fast. Not worth downloading if you’re looking for fast!

This is not a good file manager if your folder item counts are high and/or those folders are on remote servers. Mine are hundreds to thousands of items. It takes many seconds to browse between local folders. One remote folder I opened has 8600 files in it and the app never listed the contents of the folder after several minutes of waiting. Commander One became unresponsive and required force quit. I cannot say it was a problem with the file server because FileZilla was able to enumerate the contents instantly and other OS platforms are also read the folder instantly.

I Want To Believe

I purchased this app because it was recommended by the developer of TotalFinder which I loved. Besides the fact that I ended up buying it twice and not getting a refund, I can confirm this file manager is absolutely not worth any money. It is plagued by fundamental flaws and the only thing it really adds as a workflow is the dual pane. You cannot use a finder like view in which you expand subdirectories. Often shift click and any other multiple file selection screws up your ability to drag anywhere. Dropbox integration consists of me authorizing my Dropbox account and the app continuously crashing until I uninstall/reinstall. And I have never experienced any file manager app to give me so many confirmations over and over again. Yes, I want to move that file, that’s why I moved it. Yes, I am sure I’m sure. Yes, I am sure that I meant I was sure the previous time you asked. Yes, I want to delete this useless form of application clutter. Yes, I am sure that I’m sure.

Misleading Presentation

This product came up in a search for “FTP Client.” It does NOT, in fact, include an FTP client; that’s an in-app purchase. I find bait-and-switch VERY dishonest. If I have to buy an FTP client, I’ll buy it from someone else.

Pretty good.

So far I like the application. I’m using it mostly to view files on a shared drive. Commander One is inconvenient because you need to allow it access to whichever drive you intend to view documents in, so you can’t use it for local and network drives. I’m also having issues figuring out how to change the preview thumbnails. So, it’s pretty good. Not great.

Latest update is great! Thank you for the good work

This app is working great with this latest update. Being able to upload to onedrive and others without errors and remembering the location where I left off. Also being able to restart when transporting to work on another network, well that is Just excellent! If it works with my Amazon prime cloud in the future I would give it 10 stars if I could. Thanks for the good work.

Waste of money

Don’t waste your money on this one. I purchased the Pro-pack and it crashes everytime I connect to Google drive and other cloud services.

Innefective and buggy

This is actually a review for the Pro version because yes, I went ahead and purchased it impulsively. BAD MOVE; the application is worthless. It’s immediately buggy. You try and drag a file to another application and 50% of the time it selects all the files and folders you drag across instead, and there’s no way to deselect them! You have to back out of the folder and come back in in order to retry the operation. In spite of having themes the UI is outdated and lacks the polish Mac users are used to and love. It’s integration with other applications is weak. I was unable to mount the only sever i tried connecting it to. I regret my impulsive decision to buy.
